Legendary Country Rock Band POCO Added to Grand Ole Opry Lineup This Weekend

Nashville, TN—Celebrating 45 years of making great music, country rock band Poco will continue a stellar 2013 with announced performances at the Grand Ole Opry this Friday and Saturday, May 31 and June 1.  On Friday, Poco will be on the line-up with Vince Gill, Amy Grant and others,  and on Saturday they will share the stage with Ricky Skaggs, The Whites and more.  Tickets are $35/$45/$57 and are available by calling 800-SEE-OPRY or through www.opry.com.

"We're excited about playing the Opry this weekend and looking forward to seeing our old friends Ricky Skaggs and Vince Gill,” said Poco’s Rusty Young, the longest standing member of the band.

Pioneers of the country-rock sound that soared out of California in the late sixties and early seventies, the current incarnation of Poco (Young, Jack Sundrud, George Lawrence and Michael Webb) is riding a wave of success following the March release of All Fired Up, the group’s first studio album since 2002 – and is a celebration of the group’s longevity and unparalleled songwriting.

Poco charted several times in the ‘70’s and early ‘80’s with hits like “Crazy Love” and “Heart of the Night” (both from the critically acclaimed Legend album), as well as “Rose of Cimarron,” “Good Feeling To Know” and “You’d Better Think Twice.”  In 1989, the band recorded Legacy, which spawned a few more of the band’s Top 40 hits, “Call It Love” and “Nothing To Hide.”  Poco’s new millennium releases – 2002’s Running Horse, 2005’s Bareback At Big Sky. the 2004 live CD/DVD Keeping The Legend Alive and now 2013’s All Fired Up – are among the best of their career.  With 45 years, more than 25 albums and thousands of fans behind them, Poco was, is and forever will be the defining voice of country/rock.

An institution in Nashville for almost 90 years, the Grand Ole Opry consistently showcases the best and brightest in country music—both rising stars and classic acts.  Because of this, the Opry is genuinely known as “The Show That Made Country Music Famous.”
