This week I ask you to join me in celebrating ten full years of Michael J. Media as a full-time venture.  It’s almost surreal to look back and realize I’m still doing it—helping clients to gain the exposure they need, while making a living doing what I love.  It hasn’t always been easy, but to say it has been rewarding hundreds of times over is an understatement.  Of course, there were doubters back in 2003—both inside my head and outside.  But when you want something bad enough, you find ways to press forward that you didn’t even know existed.  And when you are self-employed, you often have to dig deep to get past inevitable barriers, as well as fear of the unknown.  So thanks to all of you out there who have contributed to Michael J. Media’s success in one way or another—especially the one person I couldn’t’ have done this without—my wife Jen.  And so here’s to the next ten years, and then some!

New Clients
Blood Washed Band—This past April, this Twin Cities based alt-country super group released its debut, Driftin’ Along, on House of Mercy Records.  Their music is inspired by old time country gospel songs and hymns, and is billed as an “album of country-gospel classics for those who still love the taste of whiskey.  www.bloodwashedband.com

Upcoming Releases

The Whiskey Gentry Holly Grove (September 10) Road tested and audience approved, Atlanta based band The Whiskey Gentry is releasing their second album, the 11-track Holly Grove on September 10, as yet another leap in the band’s evolution on a musical and social scale.  The Whiskey Gentry continues to reel in listeners from all walks of life - from music novices to mainstream audiences - while their musical mastery garners the professional praise and respect of those with the most sophisticated of musical palates.  www.thewhiskeygentry.com

Dan Miraldi Devil at Our Heels (September 10)  Sonic alchemist Dan Miraldi will release his new six-song EP, Devil At Our Heels, on September 10 (CD release party in Cleveland September 7).  Miraldi and his band have crafted another album which conjures the souls of rock, Americana, and power pop, past and present.  Building on the success of 2012’s full-length album Sugar & Adrenaline, Devil At Our Heels augments his ability to create original songs resonant of the best of multiple rock genres, while pioneering entirely new music.  www.danmiraldi.com

Charlie Parr: I Dreamed I Met Paul Bunyan Last Night (September 24) Chaperone Records will release this collection of new works by and about the Duluth-based Parr.  The packaged product, adorned with a surrealistic portrait of Charlie, includes: A DVD of the film “Meeting Charlie Parr,” produced by The Meeting Team, a vinyl LP containing 42 minutes of music recorded during the film production (featured in the film), as well as an MP3 download card for the entirety of the recordings.  www.charlieparr.com

Jesse Terry: Stay Here with Me (November 2013) Jesse Terry is an internationally award-winning singer-songwriter whose transcendent life and music make him one of the most prolific indie artists today; his intimacy with audiences, sincerity, and approachability solidifying him as a favorite at nationwide live venues. His forthcoming album, Stay Here with Me, displays more of this salt of the earth musician’s lyrical mastery, emotional depth, and soothing voice that has often been compared to the likes of Ryan Adams, Paul Simon, John Denver, and Jackson Browne, reaching deep into listeners’ hearts to envelope them in shared joy, sadness, love, and unrelenting hope.  www.jesseterrymusic.com
